Shrewsbury Saucy Sale Saturday 7th October 2023

An excellent first sale at a new venue for the Saucy sale was held in Shrewsbury Market on Saturday 7th October 2023. Edstaston Charollais had consigned the entire shearling portion of the flock to the sale and this resulted in a total clearance of all 21 ewes to average just over £1,100.

Leading the way was Edstaston Annette 22TG01202. A daughter of the 4,400 euro ram Knockcrogherry Vald’Isere 20H19-20-047. She was out of an Arbryn Olazabal daughter namely Edstaston Petunia 15TG00438 who has a long successful show career.

Carrying twins to Edstaston Amarillo 22TG01254, Annette made 3,000 gns to Patrick Tully for his Britchcombe flock in Somerset.

Edstaston Azalea realised 2,200 gns to David Roberts for his Boyo flock in Shropshire. A daughter of Bronwydd Whizz Kid 21WAJ00830 out of Edstaston Tamsin 18TG00794. Tamsin is a Knockin Shockin daughter out of the renowned show ewe Edstaston Madison.

Also going to the Boyo flock of David Roberts were Lot No. 14 22TG01193 for 1,500 gns and Lot No. 44 22TG01210 for 700 gns.

WORCESTER PREMIER SALE 1ST JULY 2023

Edstaston Charollais had a brilliant day at Worcester Premier Sale 2023. Our leading lamb Edstaston Beau Jangles 23TG01364 stood 4th in the late December class and then realised 10,000 gns in the sale ring the following day.

He was sired by the homebred ram Edstaston Amarillo 22TG01254 out of a homebred Edstaston Shropshire Lad daughter.

He has gone to the Foxhill flock of Mike & Melanie Alford in Devon.

Next was Edstaston Best Bar One 23TG01316. This top 1% lamb with an index of 428 is currently ranked No. 2 in the country with Signet Recording. After standing 3rd in the recorded lamb class on Friday afternoon he then went on to sell for 4,400 gns on Saturday to Will Whiting for his Fursdon flock in Cornwall.

His sire was last year’s Premier Sale purchase Dalby Ancelotti at 4,000 gns and his dam is a homebred Shockin daughter out of Edstaston Samantha 17TG00622.

Grandson of Dalby Veainau and a son of Ffrwd Wingman 21YET02460. His dam is Edstaston Oceania 14TG0340 and Granddam is the renowned Edstaston Nelly G 13TG00240. Edstaston Oceania was dam to the shearling ewe who won the National Charollais Show in Mexico in 2021.

This Shockin son out of an Alazabal cross Madison daughter had exceptional figures with a terminal sire index of 341 which puts him in the top 1% for the breed.

A full brother to U R The Man has been retained for use within the Edstaston Charollais flock. This ram is called Edstaston Umpire Dickie Bird 19TG00873 ARR/ARR. His terminal sire index is 305 which comfortably puts him in the top 5% for the breed.

Next came Lot No. 83 – 19TG00886 Edstaston Ultravox ARR/ARR who sold for 4000 gns. to Norman McMordie in Northern Ireland for his Riverdale flock.

Making 2600 gns. was Lot No. 244 – 19TG00869 Edstaston Urban Warrior ARR/ARR who sold to the Sloan family for their Rigghead flock in Scotland. This Shockin son was also out of Edstaston Madison.

At 1700 gns. was Lot No. 243 – 19TG00863 Edstaston Up and At Em ARR/ARR. This ram lamb sold to Simon Evans for his Gwilli flock in Wales. This top 5% lamb with a terminal sire index of 299 is a Shockin son out of an Alazabal cross Madison daughter.

Edstaston Charollais are pleased to announce the purchase of Rockdale U2 H2819035 ARR/ARR. Purchased for 1300 Euros at the Southern Ireland Premier Sale 2019 at Tullamore. Bred by David Argue this very smart tight skinned lamb was third highest ranked lamb on sheep Ireland during July 2019 evaluations.
