PREMIER SALE 3rd July 2010

This was a very successful sale for us with all the rams on offer finding new homes. Leading the prices was TG 0049 Edstaston Ketchigan. This high index lamb (346) by Arjan Jumanji (ZRF 9038) sold to Edward Buckley, Co. Cork, for his Kilbarry flock at £2310.

Next was another high index lamb (348) – Edstaston Kir Royale (TG 0045). This tight skinned son of Edstaston In-for-me sold to D.G. & M.W. Davies, Llanwrst for £1890 for their Nant flock.

 

Jonathon and Carroll Barber bought Edstaston Kaiser Chief TG 0001 for £1200. This son of Rainbow Hermes (XPU 7035) had an index of 403 putting him in the top 1%. On C.T. scanning he achieved the highest square cm of muscle of all lambs scanned in 2010 at 40.58 cm2.

 

The Edstaston Flock is pleased to announce the arrival of a new ram to the flock. Rockvilla Klass Act VV 0070 was purchased at the Premier Sale for £3360 from David & Liz Mawhinney, N. Ireland.

This lamb was 1st prize at this years Balmoral Show. His sire Honddu Investigator won 1st prize ram lamb at the 2008 Royal Welsh Show. We have used Klass Act widely within the flock this year and await his progeny with anticipation.

A very good show was had by Edstaston Charollais at Stafford County Show.

After winning both Champion and Reserve Champion in the Charollais classes we went on to collect Interbreed Group of Three and Reserve individual Supreme Champion of the show.

The group then went on to win Interbreed Group of Three Champion Charollais was shearling ewe Edstaston Jeanette TG 9009 with Ram lamb TG 0013 Reserve Champion

Edstaston Jeanette went on to be Reserve Supreme of the Show.

Royal Welsh Show 2009

 

Edstaston Charollais had a very good Royal Welsh Show with a completely homebred team of 6 sheep. 

Edstaston Goldfinger and Edstaston Iconic both stood 3rd in their respective classes.

TG 9061 our ram lamb by Parkgate Highlander stood 1st in a very strong class of ram lambs. 

 

In the female classess we had one 6th and 7th twice in classes of 40 plus.

Stafford Show 2009

 

Edstaston Charollais had an excellent Stafford Show which culminated in Reserve Breed Champion with senior ewe TG 7061 and Reserve Interbreed Group of Three with Edstaston Goldfinger TG 6094 and two senior ewes TG 7061 and TG 7080.

The team also won the show points cup which is such a tremendous honour at such a large sheep show.

Edstaston Goldfinger TG 6094 stood 2nd in the ram class.

Female production sale, Saturday 3rd October 2009 Worcester Market

 

Edstaston Charollais achieved a 100% clearance at the Worcester Saucy Female Sale held in Worcester Market on Saturday, 3rd October 2009.
Four shearling ewes averaged £795 and our very evenly matched pen of 12 ewe lambs averaged £511 which was double last year’s average.
We wish all purchasers the very best of luck with their new acquisitions.

EDSTASTON RAM LAMB TOPS PREMIER SALE

 

Edstaston Charollais had a very successful Premier Sale at Worcester on Saturday, 4th July 2009.  We cleared all 10 lots to average £1033.  Topping our trade was Edstaston Juno (TG 9033) at £4410 and this was actually top price in the whole sale.  Standing 4th in the recorded class this son of EDSTASTON GOLDFINGER (TG 6094) with an INDEX of 316 was sold jointly to Arwyn Thomas – Arjane Flock, Tim Prichard – Castellau Flock and Adrian Davies – Glyn Coch Flock.

Edstaston Jigsaw (TG 9043) was next in line having come 2nd in the recorded class with an INDEX of 351.  This son of RAINBOW HERMES (XPU 7035) sold for £1575 to William & Carole Ingram for their Logie Durno Flock.

Lot No. 159 a son of Parkgate Highlander (ZCA 7036) sold to Peter Scott of Coleford for £840.

It was interesting to notice that there were 3 ram lambs from other vendors that all came from Edstaston ewes that had been bought at our annual sale at Worcester in October.


One from Adrian Davies – Glyn Coch Flock – sold for 2500 gns.  The second from Chris Crowther (Dudston Flock) sold for 2000gns. incidentally this lamb was sired by our stock ram Rainbow Hermes (XPU 7035) and thirdly Arwyn Thomas (Arjane Flock) sold a lamb for 1600 gns.

 

The Edstaston Flock actually purchased ZRF 9038 Arjane Jumangi for use within the flock.

A very successful show culminating in EDSTASTON HEBE TG 7061 winning the coveted INTERBREED TITLE.

 

EDSTASTON GOLDFINGER won the senior ram class, while EDSTASTON JEANETTE TG 9009 our ewe lamb by PARKGATE HIGHLANDER also won the ewe lamb class.

 

We were 2nd in the ram lamb class with EDSTASTON JIM BOB TG 9061 who is also by PARKGATE HIGHLANDER ZCA 7036.

that we have just been awarded the Runners Up slot in the National Flock Competition 2008 which was judged by Drew Cowan, Tullyear Flock, Northern Ireland.

This came after we had won Overall Champion Flock in the Central Region which included prizes for Champion Shearling Ewes, Champion Ewe Lambs and our stock ram Parkgate Highlander ZCA 7036, jointly owned with Abbie Moseley, won Champion Ram.

SALES 2008

 

FEMALE PRODUCTION SALE AT WORCESTER ON SATURDAY, 4TH OCTOBER 2008

 

Edstaston Charollais enjoyed a buoyant trade at Worcester with a total clearance of our consignment of 8 Shearling Ewes and 12 Ewe Lambs.

 

Shearling Ewes averaged £680 selling to a top of £1050 for an Arjane Cavanagh daughter to Mr. P. Scott of Coleford. Arwyn Thomas took 2 strong yearlings by Enan Eryri XRB 4020 and Tullyear Egbert QY 4007 for £924 and £800 respectively for his Arjane Flock and Mark Worthington picked up a later born yearling by Enan Eryri for this Moss Side Flock in Bury.

 

Ewe Lambs averaged £300 with two smart Parkgate Highlander daughters selling for £550 and £480 to David Lewis of Sandbach for his Oakwood Flock.

 

Next years sale date will hopefully be Saturday, 3rd October 2009 at Worcester where the usual consignees will be joined by sheep from Dalby, Aberkinsey and Banwy Flocks.

The Edstaston Flock had a very successful day at Worcester on 28th June 2008. Edstaston Ram Lambs averaged £1066 to a top of £1575 for Edstaston Inspector TG 8050 who sold to Mr. Peter Vaughan for his Kings Land Flock.

 

Next highest price was for Edstaston Imperial TG 8032 who sold to Clive and Robert Hopper Gogwell Flock.

STAFFORD SHOW 2008

The Edstaston Flock achieved 6 first prizes at Stafford County Show including Reserve Breed Champion and also Inter-breed Group of Three.

TG 6094 Edstaston Goldfinger a son of Enan Eryri XRB 4020 won the ram class and joined with Edstaston Hayley TG 7029 and TG 7061 to take the group class.

 

 

These three then went on to win the Inter-breed Championship.(Photo coming soon).

Edstaston Imperial

TG 8032 Edstaston Imperial a son of Rainbow Hermes XPU 7035 won the ram lamb class and then went on to become Res. Breed Champion.

 

TG 8057 Edstaston Inspector a son of Parkgate Highlander ZCA 7036 was second in the ram lamb class.  Both these lambs are entered for the Premier Sale at Worcester on June 28th 2008.

 

TG 8008 a daughter of Parkgate Highlander ZCA 7036 won the ewe lamb class.

 

Edstaston Hayley TG 7029 also won the wool-on-the-hoof class to complete a very successful day for the Edstaston Flock.

The Edstaston Flock had a very successful Shropshire and West Midland Show claiming 4 first prizes and culminating in the Champion Interbreed Group of Three for the fifth time in the last 10 years

Parkgate Highlander ZCA 7036 won the Shearling Ram class and went on to win Male Champion.

 

 

Edstaston Iconic TG 8033 won the Ram Lamb class.

 

Edstaston Izzie TG 8008 followed her first prize at Stafford County Show with another first prize at the Shropshire and West Midland Show in the Ewe Lamb class.

 

The First Prize group of 3 contained Parkgate Highlander ZCA 7036, Edstaston Hayley TG 7029 and TG 7061. This tri then went on to win the Tibberton Trophy for the Interbreed group of 3.

Edstaston Hayley TG 7029 has continued her consistent show career by coming 2nd in the Shearling Ewe Class at both Stafford County Show and Shropshire & West Midland Show.

The Edstaston flock won both the Ewe Lamb and Ram Lamb classes.

EDSTASTON HEAD MASTER TG 7014 won the Ram Lamb class on his first show outing out of very strong opposition. He has a Breed Index of 324 putting him in the top 25% for the breed with a gigot shape of 7.91. EDSTASTON HEAD MASTER is going to the Premier Sale at Worcester on Saturday 7th July 2007.

The Ewe Lamb class was won by TG 7029 who is a daughter of EDSTASTON BRANDYSNAP TG 1069 by ENAN ERYRI XRB 4020. Incidentally she is a full sister to TG 6045 EDSTASTON GINNY who was last years show ewe lamb.

Breed Index 324 Top 25%

Scanned with an eye muscle of 35.6 mm and after C.T. Scanning had a gigot shape of 7.91.

Gained a Silver Award at the Worcester Premier sale 2007 and sold for 1900 gns. to Charles Marwood for his Foulrice Flock.

 

EDSTASTON HEAD MASTER TG7014

 

On his only show outing he won his class at the Shropshire & West Midland Show 2007 against very strong opposition.

 

Edstaston shearlings sold to 720 gns. for Lot No. 51 who is a son of Dalby Ferrari PE 5178. He went to Dave & Mary Reynolds for their Severn Gorge Flock.

An exciting purchase for the Edstaston Flock was Lot No. 207 Parkgate Highlander ZCA 7036 from Society Chairman F. H. & M. Kennedy. This very correct Gold Award ram lamb who scored exceptionally well for gigot in the breed evaluation was purchased jointly with Dave & Mary Reynolds Severn Gorge Flock and Abigail Moseley Knockin Charollais for 3100 gns.

ROYAL WELSH SHOW 2007

 

TG 7029 Edstaston Hayley continued her consistent show career with a 2nd in the very strong ewe lamb class. This added to her 1st at Shrophire & West Midland Show and 2nd at Stafford County.

Edstaston Hayley TG 7029 together with TG 6001 and TG 7036 Edstaston Hornbeam came 2nd in the Charollais group class to the group who eventually went on to win the Interbreed title.

Edstaston Hornbeam TG 7036 who came 5th in the ram lamb class has since been sold to David Lewis for his Lakemore Flock in Cheshire.

Three Shearling rams and five ram lambs were entered and sold at Worcester Premier Sale 2006. Between them these eight sheep won the Newark Auction Mart Trophy awarded to the vendor gaining the most points in the Breed Evaluation and in the process amassed 4 Silver awards and 3 Bronze awards.

Leading the way in the Shearlings was EDSTASTON FIRECRACKER TG 5075. This Bronze award son of EDSTASTON ECLIPSE II TG 4020 has an index of 304 and was sold for 2400 gns. to Don & Julie Green for their REGEN Flock in Cambridgeshire.

Next was EDSTASTON FELIX TG 5013 – a son of WRAYCASTLE DELMONTE DW 3093 who sold to Mr. & Mrs. Evans for 920 gns. to their GLANTREN Flock in South Wales.

The last Shearling was EDSTASTON FRANKFURTER TG 5090 a son of LOWERYE DEL BOY ZVY 3198. This Bronze award shearling sold for 780 gns. to Nigel Sheldon for his WRENVALE Flock in South Wales.

The first ram lamb was EDSTASTON GHETTO BLASTER TG 6014. This Bronze award lamb by EDSTASTON DENZIL TG 3029 had a breed index of 254 and had previously been placed first ram lamb at Shropshire & West Midland Show on his only outing to the show ring.

He was sold for 600 gns. to John Osbourne for his TREBARN Flock in Cornwall.

The second lamb was EDSTASTON GARFIELD TG 6008. This Silver award lamb went to James Browns TOPHILL Flock in Staffordshire.

Next lamb EDSTASTON GORDON THE GOFFA TG 6031. This lamb was awarded Silver in the Breed Evaluation after having been placed first in his class at Stafford County Show earlier in the year. He sold for 2100 gns. to Eddie & Sheena McCarthy for their AWBEG Flock in Southern Ireland.

The fourth lamb was EDSTASTON GENERAL DE GALLE TG 6046. A son of EDSTASTON BRANDYSNAP TG 1069 BY EINAN ERYRI XRB 4020. This lamb also gained a Silver award and he went to Nick & Mimi Hart for their LANGSTONE Flock in Herefordshire for 1700 gns.

The final lamb EDSTASTON GRENACHE TG 6036 again won a Silver award. This DALBY ARAMIS PE 0014 son sold for 750 gns. to Dave Smith for his NYMPTON Flock in Devon.

This was an extremely satisfactory sale with all rams going to pedigree breeders.

The three shearling rams averaged £1435 each and the five ram lambs averaged £1165.50 each. Included in this were three ram lambs by EINAN ERYRI XRB 4020 which averaged £1470 each.

WORCESTER FEMALE SALE 7TH OCTOBER 2006

This was another good sale where eight shearling ewes were sold to average £510 each with a top of 720 gns. for TG 5068. She went to E. T. White & Son, Brewood, Staffordshire. This EDSTASTON DENZIL TG 3029 daughter was carrying twins to EDSTASTON FIRST CLASS TG 5006.

Eleven ewe lambs were sold to average £383 each with a top of 800 gns. for TG 6021. This stylish daughter of ARJANE CAVANAGH ZRF 2032 sold to David and Liz Mawhinney for their ROCKVILLA Flock in Northern Ireland.

These promising pedigree sales have been backed up by a very pleasing commercial trade on farm with several buyers returning year after year.

EDSTASTON DUBAI TG 3050 won the Senior Ewe Class and went on to be Reserve Breed Champion. EDSTASTON CHAROLLAIS also won 4 other lst prizes

1st and 3rd prize in the ram lamb class went to EDSTASTON GORDON THE GOFFA TG 6031 and EDSTASTON GENERAL DE GAULLE TG 6046 respectively.

EDSTASTON GORDON THE GOFFA was later sold at the Worcester Premier Sale 2006 for 2100 gns. to Eddie & Sheena McCarthy of Southern Ireland.

EDSTASTON GENERAL DE GAULLE TG 6046 was also sold at Worcester Premier 2006 for 1700gns. to Nick Hart for his LANGSTONE Flock.

EDSTASTON GINNY TG 6045 who is twin the EDSTASTON GENERAL DE GAULLE TG 6046 won the ewe lamb class.

EDSTASTON DUBAI TG 3050 along with EDSTASTON FIRECRACKER TG 5075 and Shearling ewe TG 5029 won lst place in the group class and to complete the day EDSTASTON DUBAI also won 1st prize Charollais ‘wool on the hoof’.

Reserve Interbreed Champion 2006

SHROPSHIRE & WEST MIDLAND

EDSTASTON DUBAI TG 3050 won the Supreme Breed Championship and went on to win Reserve Interbreed narrowly missing out on a hat trick having won the Interbreed Championship the previous two years.

EDSTASTON Charollais also won 4 other lst prizes. EDSTASTON FIRECRACKER TG 5075 won lst prize shearling ram and then went on to sell at Worcester Premier Sale 2006 for 2400gns. to Don Green of Ely Cambridgeshire. EDSTASTON GHETTO BLASTER TG 6014 won 1st prize ram lamb with TG 6008 EDSTASTON GARFIELD 2nd. EDSTASTON GHETTO BLASTER wass sold at Worcester Premier Sale for 700 gns. to the TREBARN Flock of John Osbourne. TG 5029 won the shearling ewe class. TG 6045 EDSTASTON GINNY a daughter of EDSTASTON BRANDYSNAP TG 1069 by ENAN ERYRI XRB 4020 won the strongly contested ewe lamb class with Abbie Moseley standing in 2nd place with a ewe lamb sired by EDSTASTON FAUSTINO TG 5017.
This ewe lamb went on to win several first prizes including a Reserve Championship.
